2026 World Cup: Stadiums to Prioritize Safety with a Smoke-Free, Firework-Free Environment

Fans gearing up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are being encouraged to enjoy the tournament to the fullest by following updated stadium safety guidelines. According to G.B. Jones, the Chief Safety and Security Officer for the event, organizers are committed to creating a vibrant and secure atmosphere for supporters across the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Speaking at a forum hosted by the Africa Center of the Atlantic Council, Jones highlighted that while the passion of fans is always welcome, certain items commonly brought to matches will not be permitted for safety reasons.

“We want you to bring your energy and excitement to the World Cup,” Jones said. “Leave the pyrotechnics at home, but bring everything that helps you celebrate safely. Our goal is to ensure that everyone can enjoy the tournament without any concerns.”

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19 in 16 host cities throughout North America. Ghana begins its campaign on June 17 against Panama in Toronto, followed by matches with England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
